Frequently asked Questions

Will the agent send something without my approval?

No. Every outbound communication - emails, Slack messages, customer-portal updates — is drafted and held for your approval by default. Internal actions (task updates, reports, internal risk flags) can be automated where you want them to be. You set the boundary per agent and per action type, and every action is logged. The agent never has unsupervised access to your customers.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Onboard's MCP integrations with Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini operate under each provider's enterprise terms, which explicitly exclude your data from being used to train their models. Your conversations, your project data, and your customer information stay private to your organization.

What if Claude or ChatGPT goes down?

Onboard keeps running. Your project data, dashboards, customer portal, and integrations live in Onboard - independent of any LLM. An outage pauses the agent layer, but your team can still work in Onboard directly. Most customers run a primary plus a backup provider (Claude + ChatGPT) so if one is down, the other picks up.

Does this replace my onboarders?

No. The agent handles the parts of the day that drain them - nudges, status updates, inbox triage, repetitive replies. The parts that actually need a human - escalations, judgment calls, customer relationships - stays with the onboarder. Customers see the same headcount handle more accounts with higher job satisfaction, not fewer humans.

How is this different from building agents ourselves?

You can. Most teams don't, because agents need structured data, clear permissions, and proven playbooks to be useful - all of which Onboard already is. You get nine configured, permissioned agents running inside an hour, plus best-practice prompts from hundreds of onboarding teams. You can still extend or override anything we ship.
